FINCH

How we work

Understand, resolve, advance. Every engagement follows these three steps, in that order.

01

Understand

We go to the site before we price the work. We sample, map, and talk to the people who run it and the people who live beside it. We read the rules as they are applied, not only as they are written.

What you get

A ground-truth assessment: what is there, what it means, and what the options cost.

02

Resolve

We design a solution that fits the place: equipment that can reach the site, contractors who work nearby, the budget that exists, and the regulator who will sign it off.

What you get

A plan you can fund and a contractor can deliver, with the risks named.

03

Advance

We stay through delivery, check the work, and close it out properly. Then we write down what we learned.

What you get

A closed file the regulator accepts, and a record the next permit, audit or project can build on.

What this looks like in practice

An example of how we would approach one kind of engagement. It does not describe a past project.

Taking a new facility through its environmental impact assessment

Understand

We agree the scope with the regulator before any fieldwork, then run the baseline studies it calls for: soil, water, air, ecology and the communities nearby.

Resolve

We set out the impacts and a management plan the site and the budget can carry. Where the law requires an accredited in-country practitioner to sign the study, we work alongside one.

Advance

We run the public consultation, see the study through review, and turn the permit conditions into a monitoring plan the operator can keep to.

Who does the work

Each engagement has one Finch lead from the first call to close-out. We bring in specialists from our network for the country and the problem, and we answer for their work.

Fieldwork such as sampling, laboratory analysis and cleanup is carried out by contractors and laboratories we select and supervise.
